Chirag Upreti, PhD
Staff Scientist
Dr. Chirag Upreti has extensive expertise in synaptic plasticity, neuronal activity, and neurodegenerative disease models. His current research utilizes slice electrophysiology to investigate the mechanisms underlying cellular hyperactivity in the hippocampus in mouse models of tauopathy. Dr. Upreti's work builds on a strong foundation of electrophysiological and imaging techniques developed during his doctoral training with Pat Stanton at New York Medical College and postdoctoral training with Eric Kandel at Columbia University. His prior research has spanned topics of aberrant synaptic transmission in the hippocampus in epilepsy models, as well as dopaminergic and cholinergic signaling in cognitive processes (with Eleanor Simpson).
